About Me

I am a first-generation college graduate, and I enjoy sharing my diverse experience working in Fortune 500 and small business environments with students. My goal is to provide my perspectives and contribute to building confident, empathetic, and competent professionals. I have 20-plus years of B2B experience in marketing, sales, channel management, and business development in the technology industry. However, my range of experience is in the following industries: military, manufacturing, communications, logistics and supply chain, and cybersecurity. I have traveled to 20-plus countries for business and personal reasons on every continent but Africa.

What I am most passionate about is mentoring young professionals in behavioral readiness & workplace efficacy (the "unwritten rules" of business) that will help them navigate organizational waters to reach their career goals.

Research and Collaboration Interests

As a B2B corporate executive and current graduate professor, I see bright grads hit a wall because they were never taught the unwritten rules of corporate behavior, such as managing up, reading team politics, and handling tough feedback, to name a few. Functional skills get young professionals hired, but professional judgment and organizational acumen are what keep them employed and moving up. I’m developing an applied, simulation-driven framework to teach these unstructured behavioral skills before students hit a company’s payroll, and I’m looking to collaborate with academic peers to test and refine the model.

  • I Am PerspectiveGaining perspective one conversation at a time.

"Right now, there's a level of false empathy that we exude as people. But if I sit here and talk with you and you tell me about intimate stories about what's going on in your home and how that's affecting you, it becomes different. " - Jo'rell

I Am Perspective curates programs that are intended to nurture and respect each and every shared perspective, providing a safe space for all, free of judgement or personal inhibitions stemming from societal pressures, like the need to be ‘politically correct.’ With targeted explorative questions, every conversation also challenges participants to dive deep within themselves to uncover the “why” behind their current perspective.
